WRESTLERS OF ABSOLUTE SUFFERING

Wrestlers Of Absolute Suffering

Here I am perfomring as Phantasmagore. A sneaky, creepy heel wrestler whose one objective is to obliterate his pompous, poet ex lover, Brutus.

The Wrestlers of Absolute Suffering is a legendary group of wrestlers who, through their combat perform the aesthetics of angst with an ostentatious vulnerability and melodrama. Natural expression comes without reserve and is amplified by their costume and object: tragic masks, light and stage. They scramble a perfect intelligibility of reality. They show, don’t tell. They prioritize other forms of knowledge and expression, scrappling with the hyperprivilege of words in art and academia. The psychophysical presence of the Wrestlers is knocked loose from  bodies that crash into each other, and splashes onto the spectators. This crashing and burning exorcizes dread, and instead conjures within a witness, a blooming supraliminal experience beyond words. Gut knowledge leads these Sufferers through our ritual, performance and sport. May we excite you. We beseech you, be unseated.

SOUND HOUSE

Photos from the show SOUND HOUSE where I performed as a puppeteer. Photos taken by Colbert Davis. Sound House (everyone is working) is a multidisciplinary durational performance conceived by theater/film artist Janie Geiser and composers John Eagle and Cassia Streb, and created in collaboration with an ensemble of designers and performers, including video designer Hsuan-Kuang Hsieh, lighting designer Chu-Hsuan Chang, and scene designer Vincent Richards.

FOOD SHOW

FOOD SHOW held at Stevenson Blanche Gallery was a collection of performers and installation art all pertaining to food. I played a very sad Banana Taped to a wall.

REST IN PLEASURE

Rest In Pleasure was an exploration in using found materials to create something out of nothing. In came a cardboard box and out went a ridiculous, inappropriate memorial for betty white. She would’ve loved it.

BOOB CYCLOPS

Boob Cyclops - a video installation

I collected chest pictures from friends and family and projected them onto me. The video projection played on a loop as I was chained in this pillory-like position.

They were throwing JUMBO marshmallows at me.

LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU

Let Me Entertain You reveals the intimate life of Greggory (pronounced GregGORY). using song, dance, and some clownish erotica, Greggory is able to share himself with the world (remotely).

PARTY WITH YOUR NIGHTMARE

Party with Your Nightmare, a macabre dreamscape inside a warehouse in Downtown, Los Angeles. The event centered around four fears embodied as circus/ vaudeville exhibits. The nightmares included an intrusive clown, a funeral of a loved one, certain failure, and the loss of control. This piece was intended to help people face their fears in a surreal, party-like setting. And for the audience to question, “How do I act when I am afraid?”
